Hitachi Software Engineering Develops Automated File Software
Comline Computers, Oct 19, 1998
Hitachi Software Engineering <9964> has announced that sales of its automated file encryption software will start in November. The software, which enables easy encryption just by placing the confidential data file inside a folder, will prevent the loss of confidential data through a corporate server or in the event a portable computer is lost or stolen. While encryption software is already on the market, an automated file- making version is an industry first. The software works with files made in Windows 95 and Windows 98.

The company will release the software for mobile PCs first and plans to market a version for in-house corporate servers next March. Hitachi Software Engineering expects sales to reach 100,000 packages in the next several years, as the security- oriented software market expands. Prices will start from 5,800 yen.
