Hewlett-Packard Company, the worldwide workstation leader(1), Monday announced significant price reductions of up to 12 percent on several of its Intel Pentium II processor-based HP Kayak PC Workstations. These price reductions, effective immediately, reflect HP's commitment to providing high-performance systems at the most competitive prices.
"HP continues to set the standard for excellence in the PC workstation market," said Boris Elisman, marketing manager for HP's Kayak PC Workstations. "This aggressive pricing will help strengthen our position as the acknowledged market-share and overall system-performance leader among PC workstation vendors."

HP Kayak XA PC Workstation HP's Kayak XA PC Workstation is a low-cost, entry-level PC workstation featuring Intel's Pentium II processor operating at up to 450MHz, the Intel 440BX AGPset chip set and a choice of best 2-D or entry-level OpenGL 3-D graphics. This full-featured PC workstation is designed for compute-intensive applications such as advanced spreadsheet manipulation, financial modeling, digital-content creation, software development, 2-D and entry-level 3-D mechanical design, and 2-D electronic design.
An HP Kayak XA PC Workstation with an Intel Pentium II 350MHz processor, 64MB SDRAM and 4.3GB hard drive is now expected to sell for an estimated street price of about $1,820 (U.S.) (2).

HP Kayak XU PC Workstation -- Feature- and Performance-rich Targeted at software-development engineers, system and LAN administrators, 2-D digital-content-creation animators and 2-D mechanical designers, the HP Kayak XU PC Workstation combines the industry's fastest components with the most innovative system architecture. It features support for up to two 450MHz Pentium II or Pentium II Xeon processors; CL2 ECC SDRAM memory, the most advanced in the industry; expandability of up to 2GB; HP FastRAID; and the world's fastest hard-disk drives, Fast Wide Ultra SCSI 10,000 rpm 4.5GB or 9GB Seagate Cheetah drives. It is equipped with the Matrox Millennium G200 AGP video card for the best 2-D graphics performance, or ELSA Gloria Synergy graphics card, based on 3Dlabs PERMEDIA-2 technology, for solid 2-D graphics and best-in-class, entry-level 3-D OpenGL graphics performance.
The HP Kayak XU PC Workstations are being reduced by up to 12 percent. An HP Kayak XU PC Workstation, with a single Intel Pentium II 400MHz processor, Matrox G200 graphics, a 4.5GB Ultra SCSI hard drive and 64MB SDRAM is now expected to sell for an estimated street price of about $3,130 (U.S.) (2).
