Edge: Work-Group Computing Report, Nov 9, 1998

Micron Technology, Inc. continues to initiate new value-adding services for its customers through programs such as the FlashNOW! service. Micron Tuesday announced the availability of the FlashNOW! service, a pre-programming flash service offering Micron customers the opportunity to receive their flash devices board-ready.

Micron teamed up with Source Electronics Corporation to provide programming and other services for its flash devices. The installation of software and shipping stations at Source's Hollis, New Hampshire facility enables a seamless process for Micron customers to receive pre-programmed flash devices directly from the manufacturer.

"This model creates a new, more flexible approach to providing a final product when ordering from a semiconductor manufacturer," said David Ford, Micron Technology's Director of Flash Marketing. "Micron's FlashNOW! service provides a direct way for system manufacturers to receive pre-programmed flash at their docks, reducing their manufacturing cycle time and overhead, as well as improving their time-to-market."

The FlashNOW! service is currently available for all Micron flash devices. The program is available with no associated set up fee, code revision changes up to seven days prior to ship date, and flexible on-line code transmittal through a joint web site with Source Electronics, http://www.micron.com/flash.> "Our intention is to provide support programs and tools, enabling our customers to succeed," says Mike Sadler, Micron Technology's Vice President of Sales. "We are excited about the benefits now available to our customers through our strategic relationship with Source Electronics."

Micron customers can now receive the benefits of receiving pre-programmed flash directly from the manufacturer. The combination of these program features, along with timely delivery, competitive pricing, and a high-quality product provides customers with a greater overall flash product.
