PeopleSoft Monday announced the formation of three new divisions to oversee the company's U.S. and Canadian initiatives: PeopleSoft Product Industries Division, PeopleSoft Service Industries Division, and PeopleSoft Education and Government Division.
As part of the new divisional structure, PeopleSoft will integrate its Professional Services Group (PSG) into its Industry Business Units, ensuring customers can easily and effectively leverage PeopleSoft's extensive product, service and industry experience.

The move adds significant executive management strength to PeopleSoft's industry initiatives, enhancing PeopleSoft's flexibility in delivering service and support to customers. Each of the newly formed divisions will have dedicated marketing, professional services and sales support operations, allowing each of the organizations to more effectively tailor its activities to meet the needs of specific industries and customers. The new divisions also align closely with the go-to-market strategy of the "Big-5" consulting firms, creating greater synergies between PeopleSoft and key partners.
"This new structure brings significant new leadership and management focus to PeopleSoft's industry initiatives," said Barry Wright, general manager for PeopleSoft's Industry Operations. "By moving a significant portion of our marketing, services and sales support operations into these divisions, we are giving our industry-focused operations extensive flexibility to tailor their efforts to key industries, and even to the individual customers they serve."
PeopleSoft's industry business units will report into each of the three divisions as follows:
o The Product Industries Division, headed by Division President Jeff Carr, will include PeopleSoft Manufacturing, Retail, Communications, Transportation and Utilities business units.
o The Service Industries Division, headed by Division President Phil Wilmington, will include PeopleSoft Healthcare, Financial Services and Service Industries business units.
o The Government and Higher Education Division, headed by Division President Paul Salsgiver, will include PeopleSoft Higher Education, Federal, Public Sector and Canadian Government and Education business units.
PeopleSoft is a global supplier of enterprise application software for business and government. PeopleSoft solutions for manufacturing, supply chain, financial, project and human resource management are used by more than 2,700 customers worldwide. Headquartered in Pleasanton, California, PeopleSoft employs 6,500 people and had 1997 revenues of $815 million. PeopleSoft is on the World Wide Web at www.peoplesoft.com.
1998 PeopleSoft Conference PeopleSoft's ninth annual user conference, which takes place this year at San Francisco's Moscone Center, hosts 15,000 attendees from 48 countries. Through more than 550 conference sessions, PeopleSoft users will get new information on products, services, strategies and solutions.
