IBM announced Tuesday new Options by IBM that offer Netfinity Server customers automated backup capabilities enabling enterprise storage solutions such as storage area networks and clustering. IBM 108 DLT Autoloader The IBM 108 DLT Autoloader is an eight-cartridge, single drive backup solution for midrange servers. It has a front load, six-cartridge magazine
to accompany two fixed cartridges inside the unit for a total compressed capacity of 560GB. Providing flexible investment protection and upward growth, the 35/70 DLT drive inside the IBM 108 DLT Autoloader can be installed in the IBM 314 DLT Library to increase its throughput. The Autoloader will be forward compatible with future DLT technology allowing customers to protect their investment in their backup solution.

Designed for the mid-size network or department, the IBM 108 DLT Autoloader complements the Netfinity 7000 M10, 7000, 5500 M10, 5500 M20, 5500 and 5000. This unit will be available worldwide starting May 23, 1999 at the estimated reseller price of $9,499. Additional 35/70 drives will be available at the estimated reseller price of $5,999. The IBM 108 DLT Autoloader assumes the terms of the three-year limited warranty on the IBM Netfinity system. IBM 314 DLT Library The IBM 314 DLT Library is a 14-cartridge, three-drive backup solution for the high-end server market. With one DLT 35/70 drive standard, this unit has two seven-cartridge magazines that easily load through the front door. Customers can choose either a rack-mount or tower model. The IBM 314 DLT Library has a compressed capacity just under 1 Terabyte (980GB) and a maximum throughput of 108GB per hour. Designed for the midrange and high-end server market, the IBM 314 DLT Library complements the Netfinity 7000 M10, 7000, 5500 M10, 5500 M20, 5500 and 5000. This unit will be available worldwide starting May 23, 1999 at the estimated reseller price of $12,999. In these new Netfinity Server Options, IBM is leveraging automation technologies from ATL Products, a Quantum Company, one of the leading manufacturers of automated DLTtape library systems.
