E-Mail Security: PaperLess Ink Notes Thirty Percent Annual Increases in E-Mail Surveillance According to New AMA Survey - American Management Association survey; Introduces a new Security and Mail Surveillance product - Product Announcement

Edge: Work-Group Computing Report, April 26, 1999

PaperLess Ink, Corporation, a premier e-mail surveillance and document management software company, Tuesday commented on the 1999 American Management Association (AMA) survey on workplace monitoring and surveillance. John D'Angelo, CEO of PaperLess, noted, "According to annual AMA surveys, review and archiving of e-mail messages has increased by over thirty percent for two years in a row.

To date, PaperLess has concentrated in financial industries in order to help clients meet regulations by SEC, NYSE and NASD, but the survey indicates widespread opportunities for vertical expansion." Three of the five largest financial companies and more than 25 overall have installed or are currently evaluating versions of PaperLess' product. The survey indicated that of the 28 percent of financial services companies that monitor electronic mail, only four percent do so on an ongoing basis. E-mail surveillance and archiving software reviews the content and attachments of every e-mail through an automated system. It prevents unethical activities, improves worker performance and protects employees from biased and harassing statements. The company recently released On-line Version 2.0 of SAMS (Security and Mail Surveillance) which, 1) gives a designated supervisor the ability to monitor potentially troublesome messages, 2) provides customized reporting and message scoring of e-mail transmissions, 3) utilizes context-sensitive searching with a database of some 300,000 linguistic combinations, 4) can be configured for pre- or post message review and automatic alert, and 5) is compatible with UNIX and Windows client/server applications. PaperLess Ink, founded in 1996 by John D'Angelo, develops and markets high-quality Internet and other document management software. FMI: www.paperless-ink.com or 212-292-5060
