Industry: Email Alert RSS FeedNEXOR Announces the First Comprehensive Solution for Secure Electronic Messaging and Intelligent Routing; Interceptor Offers Complete Email Management, Security and Control - Product Announcement
Edge: Work-Group Computing Report, August 16, 1999
As email is rapidly becoming the primary avenue of business communication, NEXOR (www.nexor.com), a leader in secure electronic messaging technology, has introduced NEXOR Interceptor, the first product to provide a comprehensive solution to efficiently and safely deal with the avalanche of emails.
NEXOR's next generation of messaging software, NEXOR Interceptor is a secure, intelligent, email routing and distribution system, designed to cope with the escalating quantities of in-bound and out-bound emails.

One of the revolutionary features of NEXOR Interceptor is its ability to analyze the content of emails and their attachments. Using advanced pattern recognition technology provided by Autonomy, NEXOR Interceptor ensures that emails are automatically categorized and distributed to the right destination -- without manual intervention.
One application is the intelligent routing of emails sent to a generic address, such as info@banc.com. NEXOR Interceptor could receive a variety of messages covering areas such as a mortgage application, a request for information or a resume. The software investigates the messages and having recognized their context, automatically delivers them securely and reliably to the mortgage department, marketing department and human resources, respectively.
"As organizations become more immersed in the Internet and rely on it for business communication, they will be faced with an increasing number of emails, both from within the organization as well as from external sources," said Ed Harrington, vice president of business development and strategy at NEXOR.
"These interactions must be properly managed and controlled in order to protect business-critical data. NEXOR Interceptor is the first product to provide a comprehensive, secure email solution that delivers real business benefits."
NEXOR Interceptor operates as a gatekeeper, continually checking the content of both outgoing and incoming emails. It checks the origin of all incoming messages to ensure the validity of the sender, scans for viruses and filters out junk emails. The email is then routed, re-directed or blocked as appropriate, improving information flow throughout the organization.
NEXOR Interceptor enables organizations to establish and maintain a complete, secure electronic communications strategy to manage and protect all critical business data contained in emails. It monitors outgoing emails and can block messages containing confidential or sensitive company information. Only messages with the proper authorization level, as defined by the organization, and those that do not contain sensitive data, are sent.
"Email enables companies to respond quickly to competitive developments and deploy virtual teams that can work together to exploit business opportunities. Unfortunately, unless you are using intelligent systems like NEXOR Interceptor, email can overwhelm users with irrelevant communications," said Mike Lynch, CEO of Autonomy.
"NEXOR's use of Autonomy technology to automatically decipher email content and the ability to categorize emails by subject matter and route to those parties most likely to be interested, ensures the kind of swift, reliable communication that can help companies gain the competitive edge."
Autonomy's technology powers large-scale, personalized systems for knowledge management, enterprise portals, new media publishing and electronic commerce. Because of its ability to analyze any piece of text (independent of the document's language) and identify and rank the main ideas, Autonomy can automate a broad range of labor-intensive tasks.
These range from categorizing information by subject matter, to inserting hypertext links to related material, to profiling users based on the ideas in the text they read or write, to delivering information to those most likely to be interested.
Autonomy was founded in 1996 and has offices in San Francisco, New York, Atlanta and Boston, in the United States, as well as in Cambridge, England and Oslo, Norway. Among its 100-plus customers are Alcatel, Associated Press, Barclay's Bank, British Aerospace, Clorox, News Corp., Procter & Gamble, Lucent Technologies, Merrill Lynch, SF Gate, Shell International, Semi-tech, The Royal Mail and Xoom.com.
In addition, several software companies are licensing Autonomy's technology to add intelligence to their online publishing, knowledge management, email routing and document management applications, including NEXOR, FutureTense, Intraspect, Verge, Aeneid, Global Recall and Insight. On July 10, 1998, the company went public on the EASDAQ exchange. Further information can be found at www.autonomy.com.
Formed in 1990, NEXOR is a leading supplier of secure electronic messaging technology. Its next-generation messaging software offers a complete solution for secure, intelligent email management and control that enables organizations to cope with the escalating number of electronic messages that have become today's preferred method of business communications.
