Lexmark streamlines senior management team — announces new assignments within restructured business for 2000 - Company Operations

Edge: Work-Group Computing Report, Dec 20, 1999

In an ongoing ort to better serve its expanding customer bases and align its resources with the needs of its global printing solutions business, Lexmark International, Inc. Tuesday announced a restructuring and a streamlining of its organization. Effective immediately, the company's three operating divisions: Business Printer Division (BPD); Consumer Printer Division (CPD); and a newly-formed Customer Solutions Division (CSD), will report directly to Paul J. Curlander, chairman and CEO. Lexmark's former Imaging Solutions Division (ISD) will cease to exist.

The company's new Customer Solutions Division will combine Lexmark's after market supplies business with its initiatives aimed at e-commerce and small-to-medium businesses. Thomas B. Lamb will serve in the newly created role of president of CSD. Paul A. Rooke, formerly president of ISD, assumes the role of president of Lexmark's Business Printer Division. He replaces John C. Mitchell, who will be leaving the company. Bernard V. Masson will continue to serve as president of Lexmark's Consumer Printer Division and now reports directly to Curlander.

In making the announcement, Curlander stated that the burgeoning area of e-commerce and the company's growing interest in servicing the small-and-medium business segment are key growth opportunities. In addition, Lexmark's after market supplies business continues to grow at a rapid rate. "Tom Lamb has served with distinction since joining Lexmark in 1996," noted Curlander. "His skills and experience have been instrumental in leading our business to its current position in the marketplace. I am confident that Tom will do an outstanding job in forging our strategy and overseeing our ongoing business operations in these key segments."

Paul Rooke joined the Lexmark organization in 1980 when the company was still a part of IBM. He has served in a number of management positions since then within both ISD and CPD. "Paul has been a strong contributor to our business in a variety of key management positions," Curlander said. "I am confident that he, along with the BPD team, will continue to make great strides in this core business in the years ahead."

Lamb, 42, holds an undergraduate degree from Union College in Schenectady, N.Y. and an MBA from Stanford University. Rooke, 41, holds an undergraduate degree in engineering from the University of Michigan. He received his MBA from the University of Kentucky.

"I am very excited about our newly structured organization and our streamlined management team," said Curlander. "I believe we are properly positioned for future growth and I look forward to building on the company's track record of success."
