U.S. Wireless Corporation, the leading provider of wireless location information, announced Thursday that it has appointed Mr. Jan Klein as Vice President of Business and Market Development, and Dr. Faris Al-Salihi as Vice President of Network Design.
"The appointment of Mr. Klein and Dr. Al-Salihi as key executives within our organization is significant, as we complete our transformation from an aggressive technology-oriented company to a driving force in the wireless location industry," said Dr. Oliver Hilsenrath, President and CEO of U.S. Wireless Corporation. "In the next few months, we are looking forward to further expanding our organization with additional high-caliber team members, to execute our strategy of building out and managing wireless location networks throughout the country."

As Vice President of Business and Market Development, Jan Klein will be responsible for the development of relationships with wireless carriers and content providers, as well as the industry partnerships necessary for the U.S. Wireless national location network.
"We are very pleased to have Jan on board," said Hilsenrath. "Jan is a seasoned telecommunications veteran, and brings a wealth of experience in business planning, market development and finance."
During almost two decades with AT&T, Mr. Klein held a variety of management positions in sales, marketing, operations and finance, including responsibility for AT&T's commercial business accounts in New York. He also headed the finance team which executed the 1994 acquisition of McCaw Cellular. Upon leaving AT&T, Mr. Klein joined Dean Witter Reynolds as the wireless telecommunications analyst. Prior to U.S. Wireless, Mr. Klein was a founder of DaVinci Solutions, a business development and consulting firm.
Mr. Klein holds a BS in Aerospace Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University, an MBA from George Washington University, an Executive MBA from Cornell University and an Associate Degree in Accounting from the University of Pittsburgh. He is a Certified Public Accountant in New Jersey, and holds a NASD Series 7 license.
Dr. Faris Al-Salihi was appointed Vice President of Network Design, responsible for the RF design of the U.S. Wireless network.
"Faris is a recognized expert in the area of radio network planning, both nationally and internationally," said Hilsenrath. "He brings more than 20 years of experience in radio network engineering and design, and has worked with a number of leading cellular carriers including British Telecom, Nextel Communications and Hutchinson Orange. We are delighted to have him on board."
Dr. Al-Salihi began his career at British Telecom, where for more than a decade, he held a series of engineering positions including Manager of Radio Planning for British Telecom's GSM and analog TACs cellular networks (Cellnet). As Chief Engineer of Radio Systems for Hutchinson Orange, he had responsibility for the engineering, design, planning and implementation of the company's PCN-1800 network. He later joined TSI, a subsidiary of LCC, Inc., as Vice President of Engineering and General Manager. Here, Dr. Al-Salihi provided consulting services to the Enhanced Specialized Mobile Radio (ESMR) industry and advised LCC's clients on strategic issues related to TDMA, GSM and CDMA network deployments. Prior to joining U.S. Wireless, Dr. Al-Salihi was President and Chief Executive Officer of WATCO, LLC, an engineering design services company specializing in providing consulting services to operators of cellular, GSM, DCS 1900, CDMA and digital trunking networks.
Dr. Al-Salihi holds a BSc, Honors in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and a Ph.D. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) and is recognized by the UK government Department of Trade and Industry and International Telecommunications Union (ITU) as an expert in the field of radio telecommunications.
