Globecomm Systems Inc., a leading global supplier of satellite earth stations and networks, has been awarded five contracts with an aggregate value of $3.7 million for satellite earth stations to be installed in Asia, Africa and the United States.
Under the terms of one contract, Globecomm Systems will design and install a complete turn-key 7.2-meter satellite earth station in Hong Kong, to support the region's television broadcasting. Installation and testing are scheduled to be completed in the second quarter of calendar 2000.

The second contract calls for Globecomm Systems to design, install and test a satellite uplink system in Los Angeles, for the expansion of Direct-to-Home (DTH) distribution of television programming. Installation is expected to be completed in the second quarter of calendar 2000.
Under the terms of the third contract, Globecomm Systems will provide two 7-meter uplink terminals in Maryland to support a growing DTH distribution network for an established customer. This same customer has signed another contract calling for Globecomm Systems to provide a 7.6-meter earth station in Detroit, for the expansion of an existing network. Both of these contracts are scheduled for completion in the first quarter of calendar 2000.
Under the terms of the fifth contract, Globecomm Systems is to provide equipment for the expansion of a global digital radio broadcasting satellite network. This equipment will be deployed throughout Africa and Asia.
According to David Hershberg, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Globecomm Systems, "These five contracts are evidence of Globecomm Systems' ability to meet the diverse needs of our worldwide customer base across a broad range of technologies. Furthermore, having multiple contracts underway simultaneously, in this case three in the United States, one in Asia and one that encompasses both Asia and Africa, is an indication of the implementation of our strategy for obtaining both domestic and international business."
Globecomm Systems designs, assembles and installs ground segment systems and networks and enterprise service solutions which support a wide range of satellite communications applications, including fixed, mobile and direct broadcast services as well as military applications. The Company's customers include prime communications infrastructure contractors, government-owned PTTs, other telecommunications carriers, producers and distributors of news and entertainment content and other corporations.
Through its subsidiary, NetSat Express, Inc., the Company provides satellite-based Internet access services, digital media distribution services and integrated data, voice and video communications services.
