Hewlett-Packard and INT'L.com Asia Make Major Move in E-Commerce in China - Company Business and Marketing

Edge: Work-Group Computing Report, Dec 27, 1999

Hewlett-Packard China (CHP) has expanded its e-commerce efforts in China. Recently CHP, the joint venture between HP and the Chinese Ministry of Information Industry, contracted INT'L.com Asia's ChinaConnect Web authoring team to create three Chinese Web sites to capture the attention of the Chinese market. INT'L.com, a leader in globalization services, designed the sites and implemented strategies developed by both companies.

CHP hosted a press conference to announce the launch of one of these sites, www.e-sme.com.cn. At that time, CHP recognized INT'L.com Asia for its work in the planning and development of the SME site. After the launch of e-sme.com.cn, more than 300 small and medium-sized enterprises registered to attend the online classroom hosted by CHP. All training materials are offered by CHP and designed online by ChinaConnect, INT'L.com's business group which acts as an "information cyberbridge" to bring together Chinese- and English-speaking business communities. INT'L.com Asia's ChinaConnect team also helped CHP develop a system to directly answer specific technical questions from SME end-users online. The site has been highly acclaimed by the State Economic & Trade Commission in China.

"We are pleased to be able to assist CHP in its international marketing strategy," stated Xueni Ye, Director of Chinese Market at INT'L.com. "The translated sites have truly contributed to their success in the Chinese market."
