Chris Paisley to Retire from 3Com in the Summer, 2000 - Company Operations

Edge: Work-Group Computing Report, Dec 27, 1999

After nearly 15 years with the company, 3Com Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Chris Paisley, has announced his intention to retire from 3Com in the summer of 2000 to spend more time with his family and pursue a career in teaching.

Paisley joined 3Com as chief financial officer in September 1985, and helped grow 3Com from approximately $50 million to nearly $6 billion in sales annually. During his tenure, Paisley built a world-class global finance and treasury organization powered by sophisticated financial information systems and a strong, talented professional staff.

"For nearly 15 years, 3Com has benefited from the wisdom, integrity and leadership of Chris Paisley," said Eric Benhamou, 3Com's chairman and CEO. "Under Chris' stewardship, our company has grown significantly and the company is fundamentally stronger from the contributions he has made. Chris has been a valued member of the executive management team and played a pivotal role in defining and implementing corporate strategy to maximize shareholder value. While I am sorry to see him leave 3Com, I wish him every success in the future."

"My tenure at 3Com has been incredibly rewarding, both professionally and personally," said Paisley. "I have had the opportunity to help build 3Com from a small company in a new industry, networking, into a Fortune 500 company that has helped revolutionized communications. While it's not easy for me to leave 3Com, I have always intended to return to teaching and believe that this summer will be a good time to begin planning the next phase of my career. Until then, I will work with Eric and the management team at 3Com to ensure a smooth transition to new financial leadership."

With over 300 million customer connections worldwide, 3Com Corporation connects more people and organizations to information and each other in more innovative, simple and reliable ways than any other networking company. 3Com delivers e-Networking solutions through information access products and network systems to enterprises, small businesses, consumers, carriers and network service providers.
