"The response to Corel LINUX OS has been overwhelming on all fronts -- from the reaction at the unveiling at COMDEX/Fall '99, to the awards and the consumer response to our download and the online offerings of the Standard and Deluxe versions," said Dr. Michael Cowpland, president and chief executive officer of Corel Corporation. "All of this is a clear indicator that we have succeeded in this revolutionary desktop effort. Corel LINUX OS is easy to use and to install and is clearly the best all-round desktop solution for new and experienced Linux users."
Corel continues to hold the two most popular Linux downloads on the CNET site: Corel LINUX OS followed by Corel WordPerfect 8 for Linux - Personal Edition. Both Corel LINUX OS and Corel WordPerfect 8 for Linux - Personal Edition are more popular individually than the Red Hat Linux and StarOffice Personal Edition for Linux downloads combined.
Corel LINUX OS was also recently named the CNET's "Editor's Choice" as the best of seven major Linux distributions with the highest score of nine out of 10. CNET's editors identified Corel LINUX OS as "your best option if you want to run Linux as a workstation."
Corel is currently in the process of developing office and graphics suites for Linux. Corel's WordPerfect Office for Linux suite is scheduled to be available in early 2000, and the CorelDRAW graphics suite for Linux is scheduled to be available in the summer of 2000. Corel Corporation
