The Computer Systems Division (CSD) of Toshiba America Information Systems Inc. (TAIS) once again raises the value/performance bar on its Satellite notebook computers. The new Satellite 4080XCDT and 4030CDT offer the latest processors available from Intel including the fastest and most powerful 366MHz Mobile Pentium II processor and the first 300MHz Mobile Celeron processor.

With these introductions, Toshiba is uniquely positioned to meet the needs of a wide range of budget-conscious customers, offering the broadest range of value-priced notebooks in the industry. The Satellite 4080XCDT and 4030CDT offer small- to medium-size businesses high-performance solutions that can handle the most intensive computing requirements. These products complement the Satellite 2500 series, which provides individual customers such as students and home office users a sub-$1,500 notebook designed to support mainstream applications. "Toshiba is reinforcing its value notebook leadership with the Satellite 4080XCDT and 4030CDT," said Jeffrey Friederichs, vice president of marketing, Toshiba CSD. "These additions give our value-conscious customers outstanding computing power at a great value backed by Toshiba's reputation for quality and reliability." Giving customers the power to choose the price point and feature set that best meets their needs, both Satellites balance exceptional computing power and sleek designs with affordability. At $3,199, the Satellite 4080XCDT offers a 366MHz Mobile Pentium II processor, 6.4 billion byte hard drive and a brilliant 14.1-inch active matrix display -- the first 14.1-inch display offered in the Satellite line. The Satellite 4030CDT is equipped with a 300MHz Mobile Celeron processor, 4.3 billion byte hard drive and a bright 13.3-inch active matrix display for $1,999. For one-touch connection to printers, monitors and keyboards, the Satellite 4030CDT and 4080XCDT offer port replication compatibility with Toshiba's new affordably-priced Satellite Port Replicator and existing NoteDock III port replicator (adapter required). Adding value to customers' current expansion options, Toshiba continues to provide the industry's most consistent docking stations and port replicators. With powerful features to tackle office applications, Internet access, presentations and remote communication, these Satellites also feature 64MB of synchronous memory (expandable to 192MB), an integrated 56K ITU V.90 modem and an enhanced 3-D sound system with stereo bass reflex speakers. Both systems include two Type II or one Type III CardBus ready PC Card slots, USB, Fast Infrared and Microsoft's Windows 98. Configuration Builder CD Offers Easy, Fast Software Options In addition to providing business customers with the industry's best performance/value ratio in a notebook platform, Toshiba makes selecting and reloading software simpler, less time-consuming and more cost-effective than traditional methods. Unique to the industry, the Toshiba Satellite 4080XCDT and 4030CDT offer the Configuration Builder CD. This CD offers an intuitive Windows interface which allows end-users, resellers and IT departments to create a customized system image in less than one hour. Now, resellers and businesses of all sizes can configure a master hard drive image with just a few clicks of a button. Flexible Financing, Service and Support Programs Toshiba offers flexible financing and leasing programs, as well as comprehensive service and support and warranty programs to enhance customers' computing experience. Toshiba Financial Services provides simple and flexible financing and leasing options to large enterprise customers, small- to medium-sized businesses and education markets. The program gives customers increased purchasing power, flexible payment options, competitive rates and a variety of programs designed for their business needs. The Satellite 4080XCDT and 4030CDT come standard with a one-year parts and labor warranty. All Satellites are backed by Toshiba's service and support, available 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week through Toshiba's InTouch Center. They are also supported by Toshiba's Notebook Depot repair program that allows for a notebook to be shipped to a depot, repaired and returned anywhere in the United States. Online support is available via the Web, CompuServe Online Forum and the Electronic Solutions Bulletin Board. Pricing and Availability Both Satellites will be available in February. The Satellite 4080XCDT and 4030CDT will be sold through Toshiba's traditional distribution channels including VARs, distributors and dealers. Estimated single unit price is $3,199 for the Satellite 4080XCDT and $1,999 for the 4030CDT.
