Olicom A/S, the leader in fault-tolerant enterprise networking solutions, has announced a new pricing structure for its wide-area networking solutions, along with a major upgrade to the CrossFire 8000 series router family that increases its ability to service remote branch locations with a high degree of fault tolerance.

"We have decreased the price on our CrossFire 7052 Branch Office Router and 8012 router modules for the 8000 series chassis, placing them at 35% lower than Cisco's equivalent solution," said Rod Gilbert, Olicom's Assistant Vice President of Product Marketing. "In addition to offering better price/performance, Olicom also brings customers the advantages of superior fault tolerance, and improved network management. Software Version 7 of the CrossFire series supports ClearSession For WAN, which provides remote offices unique backup capabilities in the event of a wide-area network failure. ClearSession is Olicom's unique solution set for building high-availability campus and wide area, and includes technologies with several patents pending. Included in Version 7 are several new high-availability features for ATM and traditional WAN implementations, including technology to support source route segment passing and OSPF dynamic area learning. These new technologies add to Olicom's rich software functionality and allow automatic recovery from primary link failures, while preserving both IP and traditional mainframe-based sessions. Providing the most advanced network diagnostic functionality in the business has long been a hallmark of Olicom's WAN products -- and with this new release comes enhanced functionality, and the inclusion of ClearSight network management software with the branch routers. Features include Session Capture, a built in distributed sniffer-like technology which gives you the ability to remotely capture and decode remote data streams from a single location. And WAN Line Monitor, an application that monitors and graphs WAN performance over time, allowing users to proactively monitor and manage WAN resources cost effectively. "Olicom's wide-area network solutions have evolved to serve the unique availability requirements of our clients who -- with few exceptions -- have run their businesses on their networks for decades," said Andrew Sage, Olicom Regional Vice President. "As IP-based Intranets begin to carry more company-critical data, the average user will begin to have the same availability requirements -- and downtime costs -- as networks such as those run by the financial services organizations. Olicom's WAN solutions can ensure network uptime, and are now more affordable than ever before." Olicom's networking solutions come with ClearSession for WAN, a new component to Olicom's ClearSession strategy that increases the fault-tolerant recovery mechanisms of Olicom's WAN solutions. Olicom, a leading global supplier of high-performance data networking solutions, designs, develops, manufactures, and markets its products for large, geographically dispersed enterprises. It specializes in providing campus network connectivity solutions, advanced technical support services and ClearStep evolution strategies for networks in transition. The company's products are distributed worldwide by a network of strategic partners and resellers. FMI: www.olicom.com.
