Executive Suite: MindSpring Announces Management Changes - Company Operations

MindSpring Enterprises, Inc. Monday announced several changes in executive assignments. James T. Markle, Executive Vice President, will leave MindSpring effective March 1, 1999. Mr. Markle will assume the post of vice president of network operations with KNOLOGY Holdings, Inc. of West Point, Ga.

Most recently, Mr. Markle had been assigned to MindSpring's Netcom integration team, but previously had managed the company's Network Services since joining the company in April 1995. "Jim has been a great employee and major contributor to the success of our company's growth and we will miss him," said Charles Brewer, MindSpring's founder, chairman and chief executive officer. "We are glad to see him joining a company with which we have a good relationship." MindSpring and Knology have an agreement granting MindSpring the right to purchase Internet transport for its customers across the KNOLOGY network. Mr. Markle had been responsible for planning the integration of commercial accounts from Netcom to MindSpring. Those duties will now be assumed by Gregory J. Stromberg, executive vice president, who was already guiding the consumer portion of the integration. Jon Rietmulder last month succeeded Mr. Markle as vice president of Network Services, after having served as vice president of Call Centers. Mr. Rietmulder joined the Company in 1996 as a technical support manager, as part of the acquisition of the Pipeline and Interramp consumer services from PSINet, Inc. Carter W. Calle has been named vice president of Call Centers. Mr. Calle's most recent post was fast access marketing manager. He previously served as director of technical support, Atlanta, having joined the company in 1995 as a technical support representative.
