"We developed the HP OmniBook 900 series to enhance our OmniBook line, extending its appeal to a variety of professionals within a company," said Laura Demmons, product marketing manager for HP's Mobile Computing Division. "By addressing the needs of both highly mobile professionals, who require the ultimate in power and portability, as well as IT directors, who need easy manageability and shared accessories, the HP OmniBook 900 underscores our commitment to provide a comprehensive mobile computing solution." Maximum Portability, No Sacrifices The HP OmniBook 900 notebook PC is powerful enough to be a user's primary computer, yet it has a surprisingly light travel weight. The new series is a follow-on to the HP OmniBook 800 notebook PC, which led the industry in portability and performance when it was announced. Building upon HP's expertise in this highly portable notebook category, the HP OmniBook 900 notebook PC will feature such powerful product specifications as a large hard drive, full-sized keyboard, dual pointing devices, full ports and a durable design. The notebook will also showcase a large display, an accelerated graphics port (AGP) graphics controller and dual display capabilities, making this system an excellent presentation tool. It is expected to ship in late January, to incorporate Intel's most current Pentium II architecture and to sell for under $2,500 (U.S. estimated street price). Commonality of Accessories The HP OmniBook 900 notebook PC will provide industry-leading manageability, using HP TopTools, and commonality with accessories and docking solutions across the entire OmniBook notebook PC product line. An external bay, powered through the notebook, will share modules with the HP OmniBook 4100 series, including floppy, CD-ROM, DVD and LS-120 drives, as well as a second hard drive. This feature will allow mobile professionals to reduce travel weight and enjoy an already robust assortment of peripherals. The commonality of accessories for the HP OmniBook 900 series creates a consolidated notebook peripheral line for IT managers, decreasing the total cost of ownership for businesses.
