Gateway Wednesday announced a free upgrade to Microsoft Office 2000 Small Business and Professional Editions. For a limited time, clients who purchase a Gateway G or GP-series desktop, Solo portable PC, or Destination XTV with Microsoft Office 97 Small Business or Professional Edition will be eligible to receive the respective upgrade when it becomes available later this year.

"Gateway has always been a pioneer in providing the latest product enhancements to improve the computing experience, as we did with Windows 95, Microsoft Office 97, and more recently, Windows 98," said Jim VonHolle, director of Software and Internet Services, Gateway. "Our place as an industry leader in providing the latest technology to our clients is a fundamental part of our business, and the Office 2000 upgrade continues this commitment." Included in Microsoft Office 2000 Small Business and Professional Editions are the latest versions of Microsoft's popular office applications: Word 2000, Excel 2000, Outlook 2000, Publisher 2000, and Small Business Tools. The Professional Edition adds PowerPoint 2000 and Access 2000 as well. Clients who purchase a Gateway G or GP-series desktop, Solo portable PC, or Destination XTV with Microsoft Office 97 Small Business or Professional Edition will automatically receive a redemption certificate(1) with their system that will need to be filled out and returned in order to receive the upgrade. It will be shipped once Microsoft releases the final versions later this year.
