Exploiting the Internet as a medium for global communications with customers, partners and systems integrators is a crucial element in Olicom's efforts to continuously improve customer service, as well as to increase growth and profitability. "We act in a global marketplace with fierce competition, and this puts strong demands on our methods of communication and on our marketing approach. E-commerce is one particular area we expect to grow significantly in a short time," said Kristian Thyregod, Olicom's vice president of EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) Sales & Marketing. Earlier this year, Olicom's home on the Web, http://www.olicom.com, was relaunched with a new design. Olicom's new marketing campaign combines paper-based media with the new Web site and direct mail to carefully selected customer groups. Soon, Olicom partners and customers will be offered order placement and tracking via an e-commerce section on the Web site. "At our new Web site we offer easier access to information about our products and about Olicom contacts worldwide. Our new site will also be the basis of communication with partners and systems integrators across the world via Extranet," Thyregod explained. "The overall aim of our Web-based presence is to establish a high level of service, and to offer integrated communications that will support our virtual organization, which comprises thousands of individuals worldwide. Second, the design of the site is aimed at all Olicom contacts. For this reason, Olicom's Web site contains information relevant to our employees, our customers, our partners and the public," Thyregod stated. "The new Web site will also highlight Olicom's new Fast Ethernet product line, which will be launched next month," said Thyregod. "This release represents the completion of a product offering which allows our customers to upgrade their existing networking systems to a choice of three high-speed networking technologies." Olicom, a leading global supplier of high-performance data networking solutions, designs, develops, manufactures, and markets its products for large, geographically dispersed enterprises. Olicom specializes in providing campus network connectivity solutions, advanced technical support services and ClearStep evolution strategies for networks in transition. The company's products are distributed worldwide by a network of strategic partners and resellers.
