New PCs: Dell Delivers New Pentium III Dimension Desktop PCs For Next Generation Computing; PCs Ready for High-Speed Internet Access and Enhanced Video Performance - Dell Computer Dimension XPS T - Company Business and Marketing

Dell Computer Corporation, the world's leading direct computer systems company, Friday announced a new line of Dimension desktop PCs with Intel's new Pentium III processors for enhanced performance in animation, imaging, motion video, speech recognition, audio and 3-D geometry. The new Dimension XPS T series with 450MHz and 500MHz versions of the Pentium III processors are available today with prices starting at $1,799.

Dell plans to add the Pentium III 550 MHz processor on the Dimension XPS T series later this year. "Today's consumers and small businesses are changing how they use and view computers from games to the Internet to digital photography and home networking," said Brad Blietz, director of Dimension. "The Dell Dimension XPS T-series is a natural fit for customers who demand robust computing from their PCs." The Dimension XPS T series represents Dell's most powerful line of desktop PCs for home and small business customers. When combined with the Pentium III processor's new software instruction set and 3-D video adapter by STB Systems Inc., the XPS T series offers streaming video capabilities and rich graphics for special effects like shadowing and reflections used in games, multimedia applications, web creation and digital imaging. Dell is also offering two Pentium III enabled applications, Descent: FreeSpace by Interplay OEM and Expendable by Rage(a), as part of the Dell Home Office Essentials. Dell also expects the Dimension XPS T series to be the platform of choice for high-speed Internet access. Today, Dell holds status as the first company(b) to ship a factory-installed high-speed Internet modem for ADSL services in the United States. The Dimension XPS T series also offers up to 768 MB of SDRAM memory, 4.8x(1) DVD drive, 16 MB video card, 17-inch flat panel display, hardware Wake up on LAN support for networking, diagnostics LEDs, and up to 25 GB(2) hard drives that can store the equivalent of more than six full-length feature films or 20,000 digital images. Other features include a PCI TV/FM tuner card from STB Systems Inc. and Microsoft WebTV for Windows that enables users to watch TV on their PC while working on other applications.
