Diebold Introduces New Electronic Security Strategy - forms the Integrated Security Solutions Group - Company Business and Marketing

Edge: Work-Group Computing Report, Nov 22, 1999

Diebold, Incorporated Tuesday announced the formation of the Integrated Security Solutions Group (ISSG). The organization will provide global sales, service, installation, project management and monitoring of original equipment manufacturer (OEM) electronic security products to financial, retail and commercial customers.

As part of this direction, Diebold will form strategic alliances with electronic security manufacturers that call on end-users to get their products specified. The products include alarms, closed-circuit television (CCTV), access control and other electronic security equipment and services. The ISSG will provide Diebold customers a single-source solution to electronic security needs in financial, retail and commercial markets. This will broaden Diebold's sales, installation and service capabilities, therefore increasing the company's capacity as a leading integrator of security solutions. The manufacturer, in turn, gains an international partner that can sell, install and service their products.

"The formation of ISSG demonstrates Diebold's push to become a total integrated services provider," said David Bucci, senior vice president, North American sales and service for Diebold. "Strategic alliances with multiple manufacturers allows us to provide customers exactly what they're looking for."

ISSG will be responsible for all product and OEM selection, and will support Diebold's current electronic security manufactured products.

"Diebold's strategic alliance with Ultrak, previously announced on September 27, exemplifies Diebold's new marketing strategy," said Richard Baggot, general manager, Integrated Security Solutions Group. "Under the alliance with Ultrak, Diebold will complement its current electronic security product line by offering its customers the full range of Ultrak's CCTV, access control, video management and networking products. The new alliance with Ultrak, and Diebold's existing relationships with other premier OEMs, will provide our customers a single-source solution to electronic security needs in the financial, commercial and retail markets worldwide."

Diebold, Incorporated is a global leader in providing integrated self-service delivery systems and services. Founded in 1859, Diebold employs more than 9,000 associates with representation in more than 75 countries worldwide and headquarters in Canton, Ohio, USA. Diebold reported revenue of US$1.2 billion in 1998 and is publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol 'DBD.'
