AMD announced Monday that it has entered into a marketing agreement with Road Runner, a leading cable broadband online service company. Road Runner has chosen the AMD Athlon processor as the recommended processor for use in PCs connected to their service. The AMD Athlon processor's high-performance architecture complements the high bandwidth delivery of the Road Runner service to deliver the best possible internet experience to the end user. As a national-level co-sponsor, AMD will be participating in Road Runner's promotional activities such as a national television commercial, radio spots, joint web site activities and direct mail.

Road Runner is a high-speed online service delivered to the PC over the cable television infrastructure. By utilizing the latest advances in web technology and leveraging the blazing speed made possible by cable's hybrid fiber-coaxial network, Road Runner integrates compelling multimedia programming with the latest communication tools and personalized services such as mail, chat listings and personal home pages- all within a broadband environment.

End users of AMD Athlon processor-based PCs benefit from the processor's 7th generation architecture in a variety of applications. This architecture, which includes the fastest processing for graphics and math, and a 200MHz system bus, delivers quick rendering of downloaded graphics and other internet content, and outstanding performance on other types of multimedia and productivity applications. This is especially beneficial for moving the vast amounts of images, photos and video now appearing on the web.
