Intel Corporation Monday announced that two technology executives have joined the company in newly created positions.
Dr. David Tennenhouse has been named vice president and director of research, and Dr. Dalibor (Dado) Vrsalovic has been named chief technology officer and vice president of engineering for Intel's New Business Group.

Dr. Tennenhouse, 42, assumes responsibility for guiding Intel's research activities, including Intel-funded research programs conducted by universities and other outside organizations. He will also chair the Intel Research Council and report to Leslie Vadasz, senior vice president and director, Corporate Business Development.

Prior to joining Intel, Dr. Tennenhouse served as the director of the Information Technology Office at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and was a senior research scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
At DARPA, he directed a $300 million-per-year research program focusing on IT issues of strategic concern to the U.S. government and was a key player in the development of the U.S. government's "Information Technology for the 21st Century" initiative. At MIT, he held appointments in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and the Sloan School of Management where his research focused on networks, distributed computing, media processing and telecommunications policy.
Dr. Tennenhouse received his B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto and earned his Ph.D. from the Computer Laboratory at the University of Cambridge.
Dr. Dalibor F. Vrsalovic
As chief technology officer and vice president of engineering for all Internet-related activity within Intel's New Business Group, Dr. Vrsalovic, 51, will initially focus on, among other duties, technology development for Intel Online Services, Inc., the company's new Internet services hosting business. He reports to Gerry Parker, executive vice president and general manager of the New Business Group.
Most recently, Dr. Vrsalovic was vice president of Internet technology at AT&T where he was responsible for long range development of new platforms for Internet services and systems. Previously, he was acting chief operating officer and chief technology officer of an AT&T software subsidiary and an AT&T advanced technology vice president. Before joining AT&T, Dr. Vrsalovic was chief scientist at Sun Microsystems' SunSoft division responsible for the advanced technology group.
Dr. Vrsalovic received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering, M.S. in Computer Engineering and his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Zagreb. He has been a faculty member at Carnegie-Mellon University and the University of Zagreb.
