No More Busy Signals For 18 Million AOL Users; CallWave.com's Free Internet Answering Machine is now available on AOL - Company Business and Marketing

Edge: Work-Group Computing Report, Oct 25, 1999

CallWave's Internet Answering Machine, is now available as a free download from America OnLine.

Internet Answering Machine is a free application that enables Internet users with one phone line to hear who's calling while they are online. Internet users no longer need to order, install or pay for a separate telephone line to make sure that they don't miss important calls while online. The new Internet Answering Machine is fully compliant with the new AOL 5.0 as well as previous AOL versions and other leading Internet browsers.

The Internet Answering Machine is available at http://www.callwave.com , and AOL users may now also download it from the Computing area in Channels. Within the AOL Download Center, under Search for Software, AOL users need to click on the Shareware title and type in "Internet Answering Machine." After hitting search, the AOL download center will locate the Internet Answering Machine file. Click on Download Now and in less than a minute, the Internet Answering Machine install program will be on the user's hard drive. With a simple click the application will automatically install and the user will be ready to set up Internet Answering Machine to work with their phone's call forwarding feature.

"The free Internet Answering Machine finally makes it possible for people to enjoy their Internet experience without missing any important incoming telephone calls," said David Hofstatter, president of CallWave.com. "If every AOL user were to adopt this free solution, millions of busy calls would be eliminated each day, and AOL users as a whole could avoid over 5 billion dollars in second phone line charges each year!"

The Internet Answering Machine (IAM) eliminates annoying busy signals for callers trying to reach someone who is online. Instead of getting a busy signal, the caller can leave a voice message that the online user hears instantly over the speakers on their computer. The Internet Answering Machine occupies a small window on the user's computer screen while they are online. It displays incoming calls, plays messages and saves them for later. IAM is available for Windows PCs nationwide across the U.S. and Canada, and works with the user's existing ISP or AOL.

CallWave.com is a new type of Internet telephone company with corporate offices in Santa Barbara, Calif. CallWave's mission is to give Internet users the convenience and functionality of extra phone lines in their home or small office, without having to install or pay for additional lines from the phone company. CallWave's Internet Answering Machine is a free alternative to a dedicated modem line, and the FaxWave fax-to-email service is a free alternative to a dedicated fax line. Both services are available to Internet users nationwide at www.callwave.com , and use open file formats, enabling voice and fax messages to be reviewed on and forwarded to almost any computer.
