Compaq and E-Color Join Forces to Provide 'Corporate Vision' for Flat Panels; Compaq to Bundle New Version of Colorific With Worldwide Flat Panel Shipments - E-Color's Colorific color processing software for Compaq's TFT5000 flat-panel displays - Company Business and Marketing

Edge: Work-Group Computing Report, Sept 6, 1999

E-Color Inc. announced Wednesday that they had reached a new licensing agreement with long-time partner Compaq Computer Corp.

In keeping with their position as a technology leader, Compaq will bundle E-Color's Colorific with their innovative TFT5000 flat panel monitor.

Compaq is the first manufacturer to take advantage of Colorific's unique new Flat Panel calibration feature. "When you look at images on an LCD, they inherently lose details in the highlights and dark areas," said Bill Hilliard, president of E-Color Inc. "Colorific actually improves the look of most flat panel displays and adds unique features such as screen to printer color matching."

Colorific software provides enhanced color features to users of Compaq systems, and offers unparalleled ease of use. Colorific's Color Wizard uses a quick set-and-forget tuning sequence that optimizes monitor color accuracy and provides consistent screen-to-printer color.

Colorific provides one-click preset settings that optimize a user's display for viewing Internet, digital photography, Microsoft Office 2000 files and graphics.

New features provided with Colorific in addition to full LCD Flat Panel support include; LCD Auto Angle for optimal viewing angle adjustment, the new Color Wizard interface simplifying end-user setup, the new E-Color Key for optimal calibration, and pending support for True Internet Color (TIC) ensuring accurate viewing of Web sites.

LCD Auto Angle helps consumers adjust their displays for optimal viewing, maximizing the benefit of owning a high-end Compaq display.

"By including Colorific with their hardware, our partners provide state-of-the-art solutions for accurate color on-screen, in print, and over the Web," said Bill Hilliard, president of E-Color Inc. "With our evolving True Internet Color technology, Compaq Customers will even be able to shop (online) better!"

E-Color Inc. is an innovator in color matching and other software technologies for enhancing computer displays, video cards, Web browsers and authoring applications, 3D and PC gaming software, digital cameras, and printing.

More than 10 million copies of E-Color's client products have been shipped to date through OEM relationships with major monitor, video card, and printer manufacturers, as well as through retail channels. For further information, visit www.ecolor.com.
