TurboLinux Inc., the high performance Linux company Monday announced a wide-ranging strategic relationship in which Oracle is taking an equity position in TurboLinux and TurboLinux will make available its operating system optimized for Oracle8i.

The commitment to certify and optimize the TurboLinux Server operating system for Oracle8i is the latest step in TurboLinux's commitment to providing Linux solutions to support high volume e-business and enterprise applications. To meet the growing demand in Asia for Linux-based enterprise solutions, Oracle, TurboLinux and Huadi, China's largest system integrator, plan to work together to sell to government and corporate customers.

"Our customers are looking for true enterprise solutions and we believe the offering from TurboLinux and Oracle offers unmatched performance value for enterprise applications," said Zhang Chang Jiang, president of Huadi, China's largest systems integrator.

"Distributed database support is crucial for this type of workload. Oracle brings the expertise and the software for distributed database applications. TurboLinux brings the Linux expertise and software. This partnership is likely to help bring Linux into organizations that may not have considered it in the past."
