Iomega Corporation, a leader in smart, portable storage solutions, Friday announced the appointment of Herbert K. Scales as executive vice president, sales.
His primary responsibilities will include strategic sales initiatives to grow the business in the Americas region while addressing growth opportunities both through customer driven solutions and new products and applications. In this leadership role, Scales will work with Bill Hake, vice president, worldwide OEM sales, and will report directly to Iomega's president and CEO, Bruce Albertson.

"Herb is a sales and marketing executive with proven leadership in the domestic and global arenas," said Albertson. "His proven strengths in the retail market will be a direct compliment to Bill Hake's expertise in the OEM and integrated businesses. Together, they will be able to immediately sharpen the Company's focus as they create a comprehensive sales plan to drive growth at Iomega."
The Iomega sales team, under the leadership of Scales, will be responsible for all Iomega product sales, including Zip, Jaz, Clik! drives and disks and ZipCD drives and discs to the OEM market worldwide and to distributors and retailers in the Americas.
"This is an exciting time to join Iomega," said Scales. "This company has a lot of opportunities and is poised for excellence. My primary objectives will be to continue to grow the market for the Zip product line. With more than 32 million Zip drives and more than 193 million Zip disks shipped worldwide, customers can use these high-capacity products virtually anytime, anywhere.
"Also on the immediate horizon is the continued penetration of the Jaz product line into the professional market and the institution of our Clik! product line as the removable storage medium of choice for laptop users," said Scales.
Scales has posted top performances in earnings, sales, market share and other top line platform initiatives with previous companies. Scales previously served as senior vice president, retail sales for Philips Consumer Electronics, a $1.8 billion division of Philips Electronics North America Corporation; general manager of brand marketing for Whirlpool Corporation; program manager of various sales and marketing positions for General Electric Appliances, one of GE's core businesses, and most recently as vice president sales worldwide for Gardenway, Inc., a privately held outdoor power equipment manufacturer of Troybilt brand products.
Scales holds a master's degree in Marketing from Webster University in St. Louis, MO, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Management from the Georgia Institute of Technology. FMI: http://www.iomega.com.
