Hewlett-Packard Company Monday introduced the HP SureStore E Disk Array FC60 for Microsoft Windows NT, expanding one of the industry's most popular and comprehensive Windows NT storage portfolios. The announcement was made in response to strong customer demand for a midrange disk array suitable for business-intelligence applications, such as data warehousing, and online transaction processing (OLTP), including Web-based order entry.

"The FC60 is suited perfectly for mission-critical midrange environments in which scalability and high availability are essential," said Marilyn Edling, vice president and general manager of HP's Enterprise Storage Business Unit. "With its high-availability design and 2TB of storage capacity, the FC60 supports the entire spectrum of e-business and enterprise applications. The FC60 is the perfect complement to HP's high-end XP256 disk array and provides our customers with a storage-solution migration path as their needs evolve."
Designed to Support Demanding Environments The new FC60 supports all major Windows NT server platforms and offers high-speed Fibre Channel connectivity for applications that handle heavy traffic loads and require fast response times. The FC60 can be accessed by multiple servers in a clustered environment, and the Windows NT version of the FC60 can be reconfigured to support HP-UX(1).
The FC60 for Windows NT ships with all necessary management software to ensure the best possible performance. It is expected to support Windows 2000 later this year. The disk array supports the HP NetServer system, QLOGIC 2100F or 2200F, and the Emulex LP8000 Fibre Channel host bus adapters.
"Our goal is to provide the strongest set of storage solutions in the market, and a big part of that is listening to our customers and delivering the products they need," said Edling. "Our customers consistently tell us that a robust solution for the NT platform -- one that scales from the low end to the midrange to the high end -- is absolutely essential. The FC60 is an important piece of the puzzle for these customers."
U.S. Pricing and Availability The HP SureStore E Disk Array FC60 for Windows NT is available immediately. Pricing begins at $35,630.
