Fairchild Semiconductor International (NYSE: FCS) has promoted Jerry Baker to Executive Vice President and General Manager of Global Operations. This is a new position designed to maximize efficiencies at Fairchild's five worldwide manufacturing sites. Since Fairchild was established as an independent company three years ago, Baker has served as vice president and general manager of the Discrete, Power and Signal Technologies Group. He has more than 25 years experience in engineering and management positions in the semiconductor industry.

"Jerry Baker understands what it takes to sustain a cost-effective, quality manufacturing operation," says Kirk Pond, Fairchild's CEO, chairman and president. "I'm confident that Jerry will maximize our expertise and increase our production. Our growth plan is intended to double our revenues by 2002. To do that we need to increase production by 30 percent a year over the next few years. Jerry is well qualified to lead that effort."
Baker will be based in Sunnyvale, California, and report directly to the CEO at corporate headquarters in South Portland, Maine.
