Fujitsu Software Corporation and Dharma Systems Partner To Provide Comprehensive and Interoperable Enterprise Application Integration Solution - Company Business and Marketing

Edge: Work-Group Computing Report, May 15, 2000

Fujitsu Software Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Fujitsu Limited (TSE: 6702) and leader in the development and manufacturing of telecommunications systems and products, semiconductors, computers and software, announced Monday that it will partner with Dharma Systems, a developer and marketer of e-Business solutions that create online value from offline assets.

Together, Fujitsu INTERSTAGE and Dharma eUnify will make it much faster to bring up and run e-Business applications by enabling existing applications to be easily integrated into e-Business systems.

Fujitsu's INTERSTAGE provides an enterprise class application server and framework for integrating distributed applications, enabling end-users to collaborate across organizations and networks both internally and externally with customers, partners and suppliers.

Dharma System's eUnify solution enables the business rules, processes, and information contained in existing applications to be integrated without re-coding into Fujitsu Corporation's INTERSTAGE. By integrating legacy, client/server and other applications, Dharma eUnify simplifies the creation of new solutions that support e-Business initiatives. It is this capability that allows the creation of new online value from existing offline assets.

"INTERSTAGE, and its platform, component, B2B and workflow integration product mix, take legacy system support to a new level of flexibility and scalability through its advanced framework technology," said Shun Fukushima, VP of Enterprise Engineering, Fujitsu Software Corporation. "The combination of INTERSTAGE and Dharma System's eUnify application integration solution can provide large scale enterprises with a powerful EAI solution that addresses the needs of today's mission critical e-Business systems."

Dharma eUnify provides bi-directional access to applications via industry standard JDBC, XML and ODBC techniques. According to J. Sasidhar, president of Dharma Systems, most developers are able to implement immediately because the need for custom data access coding, knowledge of proprietary tools or learning complex application interfaces is eliminated. This significantly simplifies development and speeds deployment of the new applications. The Dharma eUnify approach also makes it easy to enhance these new applications with the incremental addition of new information sources.

"The average company has 14 critical information sources, most of which are needed to implement e-Business solutions," said Sasidhar. "Dharma eUnify makes access, integration and use as simple as if there was just one source."

"Businesses want to leverage in-house applications and business processes for Web-based solutions, not exclude or abandon them," Sasidhar continued. "The key is maintaining consistency with existing business rules and processes while forging ahead with new e-Business applications. Dharma Systems and its Dharma eUnify offering--in partnership with Fujitsu--offers an integrated, cost effective solution that complements the existing IT infrastructure with rapid development of Web-based initiatives."
