Cisco Systems has renewed and expanded its licensing agreement with Websense Inc., giving Cisco customers enhanced abilities to manage employee use of the Internet in the workplace.
As a result of the agreement, Websense Monday released Websense Enterprise 4.1, Cisco Cache Engine Edition, which provides enhanced interoperability between Cisco's network caching scalability and performance solutions, and Websense's Internet monitoring, filtering and reporting application. Cisco and Websense first worked together in August 1998 for the Cisco PIX Firewall platform.
"The expansion of this relationship with Websense will provide businesses with a range of Cisco solutions to manage employees' use of the Internet at work," said John Yen, Product Manager at Cisco Systems.

To improve performance, redundancy and scalability throughout their networks, administrators are increasingly turning to caching and content management solutions. The Cisco Cache Engine 500 Series, in conjunction with the Websense Enterprise 4.1, achieves this goal, letting administrators leverage Cisco's high-performance caching solutions while increasing productivity and saving bandwidth with Websense's employee Internet management application.
