China's Largest Computer Company Selects Viewlocity To Integrate Supply Chain for E-Business - Company Business and Marketing

Edge: Work-Group Computing Report, May 22, 2000

Viewlocity, a global provider of B2B integration and online trading community solutions, has signed an agreement with Legend Holdings Ltd. ("Legend", stock code: 992), China's largest computer manufacturer and IT products distributor, to supply its flagship product AMTrix to integrate Legend's supply chain and internal systems for e-business. Legend, which was ranked by International Data Corporation as Asia Pacific's PC market leader in the second half of 1999 (excluding Japan), offers a full range of quality IT products, services and solutions.

"To enhance our position as the leading IT partner to our customers, it is critical that we are able to share information across our diverse businesses, as well as have visibility of our entire supply chain and changes in customer demand," commented Mr. Li Qin, Vice President of Legend. "Viewlocity's AMTrix is the only solution that enables us to develop a flexible e-infrastructure which gives us the ability to increase efficiency by maximizing the use of information in real time."

By using Viewlocity solutions to integrate its legacy systems with SAP R/3 as well as the disparate systems of its business partners, Legend is able to migrate to a multi-entity e-business strategy, without sacrificing its existing investments in systems. Business partners that will become part of Legend's integrated e-business community will include suppliers, banks, customs and logistics service providers as well as customers. Owing to AMTrix's ability to connect and communicate across virtually any platform, application, format or standard, Legend will also save significant time and costs in deploying its e-business framework, and will benefit from the ongoing returns of reduced maintenance costs.

Legend Holdings Limited is the largest computer company in China. Its own brand PC has been the country's best-selling PC since 1997 and had a market share of 27.3% in Q4 1999. Legend also led the Asia Pacific market (excluding Japan) in the second half of 1999. The successful experience has approved that Legend has deep insight into the PRC IT market and clear grasp of user's demand. The major shareholder of Legend is Chinese Academy of Science, giving Legend strong technology support and broad connections in the PRC. Legend has also built up strategic alliances with international technology giants such as Intel and Microsoft. Legend also distributes imported computer-related products, provides systems integration services and manufactures motherboards. Legend is actively developing its Internet-related business and has already launched the first-generation Internet PC, set-top box and portals. Legend was listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 1994, with American Depositary Receipts also being traded in the United States.
