"Online personal investing has exploded, and recent market movements demonstrate the need for investors to have rapid access to the information that's most relevant to them," said Jason Pavona, director of personalization and wireless for Lycos. "Utilizing category-killing content and tools from our Quote.com acquisition, My Lycos Investing allows investors to monitor their portfolios and the markets in ways that no other portal allows, making it an ideal homebase for users to begin their Web session every day and return to often."
My Lycos Investing offers the deepest selection of financial tools of any portal. For example:
-- My Lycos Investing offers the user a selection of 12 different options including 52 week hi and low, volume, daily high and low, percent change, and more, while competitive sites offer limited stock information such as the symbol's current price and point change.
-- My Lycos Investing allows the user choose up to eight different indicators to comprehensively gauge performance of her portfolio including an individual investment's gain/loss and total value while other personalization sites limit the amount of stock portfolio data available. My Lycos Investing can also display the user's entire portfolio value based on current market prices.
-- My Lycos Investing is the first site to offer local city indexes which track the performance of companies in over 40 US cities. For example, a user with a Dallas area zip code would see the Dallas 96 -- an index highlighting the performance of 96 area companies with market caps over $150 million.
-- My Lycos Investing offers a "Portfolio Projector" that allows users to perform "what if" calculations based on current holdings or potential investments. For example, a user can calculate the total value of his Lycos stock if the stock reached a specific price point.
-- My Lycos Investing leverages personalization features found in the core My Lycos platform including the ability to select three different page layouts, a drag and drop interface that arranges page content, and a dozen unique investing-themed color schemes to add a truly personal touch.
-- My Lycos Investing includes content and features not found in competitive offerings including IPO Hotlist, Business Books, Financial Tools, Economic Calendar, Major Indices, Investor Almanac, Investing Directory, Hot List , Most Active Stocks, Local City Index, Investing Q&A, 401K Plans, Top 5 Lipper Mutual Funds, and Portfolio Projections.
