Monitors have full-size LED displays

Electronics Times, Jan 25, 1999

Datel's DMS-40PC-4/20S series of process monitors features a large, easy-to-read LED display and an ultra-wide power supply range.

The factory-calibrated units offer 4.5digit resolution, and the displays are available in red, green, high-intensity red or low-power red colours.

There are two operating power supply ranges: a 4.75 to 5.25V range for use in standard 5V powered systems and a super-wide 7.5 to 32V range for use with 12, 24 or 28V industrial power sources. The 7.5 to 32V red LED model consumes 30mA from a standard 24V supply yet is still very bright.

All decimal point placements, range selections and coarse gain/offset adjustments are made using a look-up table to configure two on-board, gold-plated, vibration-resistant, six-position dip switches. Two on- board precision 20turn potentiometers are used to fine tune the desired readings.

The span and adjustment potentiometers do not interact with one another. A unique current-loop input grounding scheme is included to virtually eliminate all commonly encountered ground-loop induced display errors and instabilities.

All models are reverse polarity input-protected, and input connections to the power source and current loop are made via reliable screw-type terminal blocks. The units operate over the range 0 to 50 degrees C.
