Driver helps audio and video inputs

Electronics Times, Nov 8, 1999

The AVPro 5001, from TDK Semiconductor, is a quad audio/video driver that supports four video inputs and two for audio.

Developed for use in DVD players, VCRs and digital receivers for satellite, cable and terrestrial TV, the device has been designed so that each of the four video inputs includes a path that has a gain of two with output amplifiers to drive a 150W load.

Two versions can be supplied: one supports RGB video with an additional composite channel while the other supports S-video with two independent composite channels.

Both versions accept stereo audio inputs and each audio path has two output drivers that are buffered to provide 2Vrms outputs into 600W. In addition, the audio drivers use 5V power supplies so that outputs are centred around ground. This allows direct coupling of the audio outputs to the associated load.

The AVPro 5001 is supplied in a 24lead SOL package.
