Buffalo network products in Europe

Electronics Times, Oct 11, 1999

TechWorks is bringing a range of Buffalo networking products into Europe, including a variety of switching hubs and network interface cards.

Top of the initial range is the LSW10/100-8H which is an eight-port 10/100Mbit/s switching hub with automatic negotiation and optional manual setting. Each port can be pre-selected for auto-negotiation on/off, speed and duplex mode by three dip switch settings and the hub supports either full or half duplex operation in 100Base-TX or 10Base-T modes.

Flow control is provided to 802.3X specifications under full duplex and by back pressure in half duplex. A buffer of 512Kbyte is incorporated and the MAC address table holds 8192 entries. The internal bus speed is 4Gbit/s and the unit uses a Broadcom BCM5308 controller chip for maximum efficiency.

Also in the Buffalo range is the LPC3-TX 10/100M PCMCIA network interface card which complies with IEEE 802.3x standards. It supports full duplex operation and provides automatic speed negotiation between 100 and 10Mbit/s.

Three LEDs indicate link, activity and 100Mbit/s operation, and the card supports any IBM-PC/AT compatible computer with PCMCIA2.1 or later Type II card slot.
