Audio controller delivers top sound

Electronics Times, June 12, 2000

Flint is introducing a single chip solution to intelligent audio designs using the universal serial bus.

The latest Micronas UAC3552A contains all the functionality needed to balance a loudspeaker enclosure and connect the speakers direct to the PC without involving a sound card. A DSP, EEPROM, high performance DAC, operational amplifier and USB controller on a single IC allows designers to provide high quality audio playback at a low system cost.

The Micronas device stores data for human interface implementation on EEPROM, making it simple to build-in ease of operation. For example, volume and other parameters may be adjusted on the speaker then transferred to the PC via the bus for display on control panels.

Target applications include digital speakers, sound from PC monitors, domestic amplifiers, and amplifiers in cards and broadcast receivers.

Complete broadband processing of the signal is achieved by the UAC 3552A.
