Spicy Downloads - Brief Article

Electronics Times, May 15, 2000

EMI Recorded Music is releasing 100 albums and more than 40 singles for digital download in a trial beginning in North America in July and expected to reach Europe before the end of the year.

The company has decided to release the material in the Windows Media format, while controversy continues to surround the availability of MP3 material on the Internet. But EMI says users will be able to burn CD-Rs and transfer tracks to portable players. The company says that music from a wide range of artists will be available, including the Spice Girls (pictured), Frank Sinatra, Tina Turner, Snoop Dogg and Pink Floyd.
