Available from Allegro MicroSystems is the SI-8050JF, a monolithic five- terminal (T0220) switching regulator IC with an output current capability of 1.5A DC.
Featuring a high efficiency of 80% and requiring four external components to implement a complete switch-mode power supply, the device comes with output voltages of 2.5, 3.3, 5, 9 and 12V and as an adjustable version.
The SI-8050J has an internal 125kHz fixed frequency oscillator, and features built-in overcurrent protection, thermal shutdown and a soft- start function. It operates over a DC input voltage range of 7 to 40V.
