Flat panel PC offers a rugged option

CKS Holdings has introduced a 15in TFT flat panel Pentium industrial PC. The unit provide industrial and military users with up-to-date computer technology in a rugged form. Components are designed for industrial use and the PC offers an operating temperature of 0 to 60 degrees C.

The display is an analogue high-bright NEC active matrix TFT protected by a 6mm Lexan resistant filter. With a solid zinc passivated steel surround, the front of the unit is wear and chemical-resistant and sealed to IP65 (NEMA 4).

The full function PC contains a Pentium 233 MMX CPU, 64Mbit of SDRAM and a Quantum Fireball hard drive. The HMI is powered by a 150W auto- range (85 to 265V AC) Astec power supply. An integrated C&T 69000 chipset provides the XGA video signal for optimal picture quality. For comms, the HMI has a 100Base-Tx fast Ethernet port, an SPP/EPP and ECP supporting parallel port and four RS232 ports.

Options include a Celeron 450MHz CPU, disc on chip up to 144Mbit, a touchscreen, additional ram, a floppy drive and preloaded operating systems.
