Stereo transmitter ICs ease audio link implementation

Electronics Times, Sept 25, 2000

Rohm has launched compact FM stereo transmitter ICs that help simplify the implementation of high-quality, cable-free audio links in applications ranging from car TV and audio equipment and car navigation systems to wireless loudspeakers, games consoles and PC sound cards.

Supplied in QFP44, SDIP22 andSOP22 packaging, depending on the device chosen, the BH1414K and BH1416S/F wireless audio link ICs incorporate a modulator for the generation of stereo composite signals and an FM transmitter for the broadcast of the stereo signal. A PLL system maintains a stable transmission frequency, while a built-in pre- emphasis, limiter and 19kHz/38kHz low-pass filter circuitry help ensure high quality audio signals. Both ICs operate with supply voltages of between 4.5 and 5.5V and can accept maximum audio input levels of 500mV rms.
