National Semiconductor has introduced the latest generation of National Mediamatics integrated chips. Made on an 18 micro m technology, the NDV8601, 2 and 3 chips deliver a customised combination of high-end audio and video capabilities with low power consumption.
The NDV8601 includes on-chip progressive scan and has enhanced track buffer support. The 8602 is targeted at lower end consumer models and supports MP3 and karaoke. It does not include progressive scan, the video I/O port of high-end audio algorithm decoders.
The NDV8603 includes higher-end audio capabilities but does not provide progressive scan or the video I/O port.
