Industry: Email Alert RSS FeedPCMCIA card operates without using system slot - Brief Article
Electronics Times, Feb 26, 2001
Acal Electronics has introduced a PMC to PCMCIA adapter that allows a single Type I, Type II or Type III PCMCIA card to be used in a system without occupying a system slot. The MM-6180 made by Micro Memory can be used directly in any system with a PMC connection: VME, CompactPCI or PCI.
The use of removable flash, SRAM and hard drive PCMCIA cards provides versatility for applications that require stored data to be transferred to an off-site location. The adapter can be used as a high-speed bootable source for operating systems.
The adapter is said to offer quick access to PCMCIA cards through the front panel. It is software-configurable with no jumpers, and a 12V control switch is provided for flash memory programming.
