SMT inductors aid power storage - Brief Article

Electronics Times, Jan 15, 2001

A high performance, ferrite-based, low-profile SMT power inductor range suitable for the energy storage requirements of wireless and handheld equipment such as PC cards, cellular telephones, pagers, GPS and disk drives, has been launched by Cooper Electronic Technologies.

The Coiltronics range includes MP2 devices available in eight inductance values: 1, 2.2, 4.7, 10, 15, 22, 33 and 47 micro H.

As a feature of the MicroPac range, the DC Resistance (DCR) has been kept to a minimum.

All the devices use a closed magnetic field construction which makes it fully shielded. This results in low electromagnetic interference values.

All the inductors operate in the frequency ranges of 1KHz to 2MHz, with an operating temperature of -40 to 85 degrees C.

Profile height is 1.8mm and this is combined with external dimensions of 7.5 (l) x 5.2 (w)mm.
