MP3 player has an enormous byte - launched by Archos - Brief Article

Electronics Times, May 8, 2001

We've all dreamed of being able to carry our entire CD collection around with us wherever we go, and now we can.

French-based manufacturer of notebook peripherals, Archos, has introduced an MP3 player with a huge 6Gbyte storage capacity. More than 100hr of CD-quality music - equivalent to around 150 CDs - can be stored on the Jukebox 6000. An entire collection of MP3s and CDs can now be transferred on to one portable device.

This palm-sized combination of an MP3 player and USB hard drive is compatible with PCs and Macs, and has a 2Mbyte memory buffer. It measures 115 x 82 x 34mm, is less than 25cm thick and weighs 290g. The system's plug-and-play USB connection can use the 6Gbyte capacity as an additional hard drive to boost the storage capacity of a portable notebook. Darren Rea
