ComputersharePepper, a financial services and technology provider for the global securities industry, is equating online communications with tree planting. Network shareholders who become a member of Computershare's "global eTree" receive investment information via email, can track investments online, and have access to promotional work done by other companies within their shareholder base.
And investors who register will automatically have a tree planted in their name in one of AMERICAN FORESTS' ecosystem restoration projects. They then receive an electronic certificate of appreciation and a map showing where their tree has been planted. In announcing the program, Computershare pointed out the environmental benefits of reducing the use of valuable resources such as trees and increasing sustainability. The program was designed to give shareholders an opportunity to express their concern for the environment and contribute to reforestation efforts across the United States, and officials at Computershare report a high response rate.
