An Earthbound Commitment
American Forests, Summer, 2000
The nation's largest supplier of organic producer has pledged to plant 23.874 Global ReLeaf trees to offset its 1999 carbon emissions.
Earthbound Farm, which planted 6,747 trees in 1999 with AMERICAN FORESTS, this year expanded its climate impact measurement to include the powerful greenhouse effect of the refrigerant it uses to keep produce cold. The company showed its commitment to environmental stewardship by planting three times the number of trees to offset its emissions and help restore wildlife habitat and damaged ecosystems.
"Our company is always striving to tread more lightly on the planet says Myra Goodman, Earthbound Farms cofounder and executive vice president. "Our investment in planting trees helps us to balance the emissions from our operations."
The company chose to plant trees in AMERICIAN FORESTS' Global ReLeaf projects in Idaho, Now York, Maryland, and Nevada. Earthbound Farm also is working with AMERICAN FORESTS to explore direct ways of reducing the company's carbon emissions. Contact Bob Leipeld at 202/955-4500, ext. 210, to learn how your company can do the same.
