Third graders - Maui school children raise money to plant trees - Brief Article
American Forests, Summer, 2001
Third graders in Maui, Hawaii, overcame the odds of a 20-day teachers' strike this spring, raising enough money to plant 100 trees through AMERICAN FORESTS' "A Tree For Every Child" program. Given the strike, Linda Olsen's class at Kula Elementary School missed the deadline, but they still get a bonus.
AMERICAN FORESTS worked with the state's Kaulunani Urban Forestry Program and the Kahana Bayview Farms nursery to make sure the class would get a Norfolk pine to plant for all its efforts.
