Going grassroots - News from the World of Trees - Brief Article

American Forests, Summer, 2002

Public and private sector leaders in urban forestry from across the nation will meet at a grassroots summit September 21-24 in Salt Lake City. Attendees will range from land-management agencies to nonprofits to the tree-care industry at the citizens congress: "Building a United Constituency for Urban and Community Forstry."

Urban and community forestry combines strategic planting, management, and education outreach to create green infrastructure for sustainable communities.

Local, state, and national urban and community forestry leaders are urged to participate on a panel or simply to attend the meeting. Participants will help build momentum for the movement by collaborating on existing programs and future plans.
