Announcing Webreleaf - Tree planting by web users - Brief Article
American Forests, Autumn, 2000
A new partnership between AMERICAN FORESTS and the Environmental News Network allows web users to plant trees free with the click of a mouse.
For every 10 clicks on the "donate" button at www.webreleaf.com, one of AMERICAN FORESTS' corporate sponsors will plant one tree in an AMERICAN FORESTS' Global ReLeaf Forest. ENN launched the site by underwriting the first 20,000 trees, which Internet users planted in just two weeks.
Specialty retailer Eddie Bauer signed on to plant 25,000 trees and quickly met its goal. Then the Shaklee Corporation, a health and wellness company, sponsored 20,000 trees.
Trees planted through webreleaf.com will be counted toward AMERICAN FORESTS' goal of planting 20 million trees for the millennium.
